Where to Start
When it comes to applying InsulKote to any surface there are a few things you have to do prior to the application as well as during to ensure you have the best results!

Step 1: Assessing the Surface
The first and most important part of any application is to assess the substrate.
Not every surface is the same.
For example, maybe the surface is a metal roof sheet that has some serious rust issues. Assess the area and see if it can be repaired. If the holes aren't too big you can dust off the old rust, paint some RustKote onto the surface to help stop further rust degradation and then proceed to patching the holes with FillaKote.
Asbestos roofs need encapsulating with AsbestoKote prior to insulating.

Step 2: Check the Weather
This, like all other Kote Products, is a vital step before applying any product.
Prepping the surface/substrate can be done in advance and won't be affected if it drizzles or rains after a day or two. InsulKote however is a different product all together and requires a minimum of 7 days to cure. In hot weather this time is drastically reduced but it is best not to gamble with the rain.
Drying time varies depending on the ambient temperature. But if you are working outdoors it is imperative that you ensure you have a few days of good warm sunny weather.
Important Tip: If the surface is too hot the product will cure from the underside, leading to adhesion issues. May common sense prevail.
Step 3: Applying your 1st Coat
Once your surface has been degreased with KleenKote repaired and prepped for the job you can now focus on applying the insulation product.
There are many possible ways of applying the product, the easiest being by paintbrush.
Best practice is to pour InsulKote from the container onto the surface and spread generously with the soft long-haired brush. Using a roller will not apply a thick coat and not provide a good finish.
Important Tip: Make sure the paintbrush is clean and dry so as not to cause contamination or 'water down' the product.
Step 4: Last two coats...
Apply the second in the same manner as per first coat and then after two hours in warm weather, apply the final third coat.
Every coat needs to be applied generously, this is not a paint it is an insulating material which is rather thick by comparison to paint.
It will not pay you to skimp with applications and defeat the purpose of forming a barrier from the heat of the African sun.
